Household goods and car shipping from Madinah to Kuwait is not only about furniture. Anyone who has lived years in Madinah gathers belongings whose value is not measured in money: gilded Qurans, Arabic calligraphy panels, prayer beads, brass incense burners and coffee pots, prayer rugs, books and keepsakes from Madinah. These belongings travel about 1,180 kilometres via Qassim and Hafar Al-Batin to Kuwait, and what protects them is sorting them and packing each category as it needs.

Household belongings need different care from furniture: a calligraphy panel suffers from pressure and moisture, a gilded Quran needs individual wrapping, brass pieces dent, and a glass display cabinet breaks if it is not dismantled. Each category is also written on the list in a way that protects your rights at clearance and for insurance.
Al Basma Express moves your household goods, furniture and car from Quba, Al Awali, Al Aziziyah, Shuran, Al Khalidiyah and every district of Madinah to the Capital, Hawalli, Salmiya, Jahra, Farwaniya and Ahmadi: sorting and photographing, packing by category, wooden crates for panels and glass, a closed truck, clearance at Al Raqi and Salmi, and delivery, arranging and hanging of panels in your home.

Madinah to Kuwait in numbers
Who moves their belongings from Madinah to Kuwait?
| Case | Typical belongings | Usually the best option |
|---|---|---|
| A Kuwaiti family returning after years near the Haram | Qurans, calligraphy panels, curios and home furniture | A closed truck with wooden crates |
| A resident whose job moved to Kuwait | Personal belongings and two rooms of furniture | Part load or a small truck |
| A student of Islamic knowledge who has finished studying | A library, Qurans and personal items | Part load with small boxes |
| Someone sending belongings first | Panels and curios before the furniture | Part load with special care |
Belongings from Madinah homes: how we pack each category
We go through every room with you, sort belongings by how sensitive they are, then pack each category in the way that protects it:

| Category | Risk | Packing method |
|---|---|---|
| Framed Arabic calligraphy panels | Broken glass and scratched frames | Tape on the glass, corner protectors, bubble wrap, then a wooden crate for large pieces |
| Gilded and valuable Qurans | Damaged edges and gilding | Individually wrapped in soft paper, then a padded case at the top of the load |
| Prayer beads and small curios | Loss and breakage | Small bags inside divided, numbered boxes |
| Brass incense burners and coffee pots | Dents and scratches | Soft paper then padded cases, burners cleaned of ash |
| Prayer rugs and handmade rugs | Moisture and moths | Cleaned, dried and rolled in a fabric cover |
| Fine china and tableware | Breakage | Paper for each piece, double-wall boxes and padding between pieces |
| Books and family photos | Moisture and curling | Sealed bags inside small boxes |
Arabic calligraphy panels
A glass-framed panel is the belonging most likely to break on a long trip. We tape an X across the glass to hold any shards if it cracks, protect the corners, wrap the panel in bubble wrap, then place large ones in a wooden crate made to size, moved upright, never flat. On delivery we hang them in place if you wish.
The personal library
A large library moves shelf by shelf: we number each shelf and pack its books into a small box carrying the same number, with no box over 20 kg. That way the library is rebuilt in Kuwait in the same order, without hours spent re-sorting it. Valuable books and old editions are wrapped individually in padded cases.
Glass display cabinets
We empty the cabinet and pack its contents first, then remove the shelves and glass doors into a padded wooden crate, move the wooden frame wrapped on its own, and reassemble the cabinet and arrange its contents in Kuwait.
Road heat and its effect on belongings
The road crosses central Saudi Arabia, and the truck body heats up in summer. So we handle heat-sensitive items with care: old photographs are kept in sealed bags away from the truck walls, candles, cosmetics and oud oil travel with you, and calligraphy panels are carried upright in the middle of the load, not against the walls.
What do you carry with you rather than ship?
| Item | Why |
|---|---|
| Manuscripts and very rare Qurans | Irreplaceable, and not exposed to a freight trip |
| Jewellery and valuable watches | High value and easily lost |
| Original documents and certificates | You need them in Kuwait on arrival |
| Small amounts of alcohol-based perfume and oud oil | Flammable |
| Medicines | Spoiled by truck heat |
| Personal electronics | Laptop, phone and data drives |
What to move to Kuwait, and what to leave
| Item | The usual decision | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Belongings, curios and calligraphy panels | Shipped | Their sentimental value cannot be replaced |
| Valuable and carved furniture | Shipped | Hard to replace at the same quality |
| Cheap bulky furniture | Sold in Madinah | May not fit tower apartments in Hawalli and Salmiya |
| Large old appliances | Compare shipping cost with value | Replacing them may be cheaper |
| Split air conditioners | Compare removal and refitting with a new unit | They need a technician at both ends |
Furniture with the belongings
| Item | Preparation |
|---|---|
| Bedrooms and wardrobes | Fully dismantled with panels and screws numbered |
| Majlis sets and sofas | Blanket then film, majlis pieces numbered |
| Appliances | Emptied, dried, secured and moved upright |
| Marble tables and mirrors | Padded wooden crates |
In the truck we place heavy furniture at the back, wooden crates upright and secured, and sensitive belongings in upper rows away from pressure, with straps on every row.
Collection from Madinah
| Area | What we plan for |
|---|---|
| The central area around the Haram | Rules on large trucks entering; a smaller vehicle transfers to the truck outside |
| Quba, Al Awali and Al Aziziyah | Spacious villas and houses; direct collection |
| Shuran, Al Khalidiyah and newer districts | Buildings with lifts; lift booking or carrying on the stairs |
During Ramadan and visiting seasons we schedule packing and loading at quieter times, away from peak crowds near the Haram.

Delivery and arranging in Kuwait

We open the crates in front of you and check each valuable piece against its photos, reassemble display cabinets, hang calligraphy panels in place, arrange Qurans and curios on request, and unroll and air the rugs.
| Governorate | What we plan for |
|---|---|
| Hawalli and Salmiya | Towers with narrow lifts; a hoist for large pieces |
| Jahra | Closest to Salmi, with spacious homes |
| Capital and Mubarak Al-Kabeer | Family homes and bigger crews |
| Farwaniya and Ahmadi | Multi-storey apartments and houses |
After arrival: caring for belongings
Kuwait’s summer humidity is higher than Madinah’s dry air. We open belongings boxes in the first days, unroll and air the rugs, and leave old or paper calligraphy panels in an air-conditioned room for a day before hanging them, so they adjust to the new climate.
Belongings first, furniture later
Some families move their valuable belongings first as a part load, to have peace of mind about them in the new home, then move the furniture in a second stage when the home is ready. We arrange both stages with separate lists and keep what is in between in an air-conditioned warehouse.
Insurance and the condition report
Valuable belongings deserve insurance covering the trip, based on the estimated values on the list. We photograph each valuable piece before packing and review the photos with you at delivery, so any issue is clear and documented.
The timeline before the move
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Three weeks before | Contact, survey and sorting belongings |
| Two weeks before | Building wooden crates for panels and curios, and the car’s export plates |
| A week before | Sell what will not move, and prepare what you carry |
| Two days before | Photographing, packing, writing the list and Fasah authorisation |
| Loading day | Dismantling and loading |
Mistakes that damage belongings on the road
- ✔A framed panel with no glass protection: it breaks and scratches the panel itself.
- ✔Incense burners with ash inside: they stain everything around them.
- ✔Oud and incense with clothes: the scent spreads to everything.
- ✔A display cabinet moved full: its shelves and contents break.
- ✔Rugs wrapped in sealed plastic: moisture is trapped.
- ✔A vague list with no values: weakens your insurance claim.
Temporary storage
If your Kuwait home is not ready, we keep your belongings and furniture in an air-conditioned warehouse that protects them from heat and humidity. Details on our temporary storage page.
